By Mary Howard

Different people have different beliefs. This is what makes people different. For instance, there are a big percentage of people that go to church on Saturday and believe that this is the day that was designated by God to be worshiped. Others believe that Sunday is the holy day. When the people who worship on Saturday are asked why they choose this day for worship, they simply answer that it has been identified in the Bible and is the day that is reserved for worship. Below is a list of fundamentals of churches that observe the Sabbath Winnipeg has.

The first stronghold is that the Bible both in the New and Old Testaments have consistently called Saturday the Sabbath. This is the seventh day of the week, making it the designated day of worship by God. More so, Sunday, which is the first day of the week, was never designated as a day of rest by God.

The second key point that these believers will tell you is that Saturday was designated by God himself. He took six days to create the universe. On the seventh day God rested. He therefore blessed and ordained this day, setting it aside for rest after a long week of working. Therefore, this makes this day a holy day to worship and praise God.

Also, this day is the forth commandment of God in his Ten Commandments. Therefore, it is a commandment that should not be broken. This is actually the perfect creation symbol or resting after working for six days. God himself created the universe for six days and rested on the last day, which was Saturday. He therefore blessed, ordained and hallowed it.

Another reason for people to go to church on Saturday is that Jesus affirmed that this day was a creation ordinance that was intended to benefit humanity by God. Therefore, it was made for man and not the other way round. Also, Jesus affirmed that this was a day of rest and worship through his ministry when he was on earth. This makes this day holy to those who believe so.

Likewise, when people take rests every Saturday, this weekly rests symbolizes the kingdom of God and the second coming of Christ. When Jesus comes a second time to take the righteous to heaven, they will see no more turmoil. They will therefore rest forever. This means that everyday will be a resting day when Jesus comes back.

More so, Jesus himself observed this day when he was on earth. He went to the synagogue to pray and worship. This was his custom every Saturday. Apostles like Paul and the gentiles also worshiped on Saturday. They prayed, preached, evangelized and worshiped on this day, showing that it is a holy day.

This day is essential as it also offers a practical benefit for all humans and their well-being. This is the time to take an off from work and other house chores. Therefore, this is important for mental, physical and spiritual rest. Therefore, when people rest the whole of Saturday, they will become healthier.
